Mary Harshfield, M.A, LPCC, NCC
Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

I believe that every person already has the capacity for growth, healing, and meaningful change within them. My role as a counselor is not to tell you who to be or how to live your life, but to help you reconnect with your own strengths, resilience, and insight. I strive to create a warm, genuine, and nonjudgmental space where you can show up exactly as you are and not who you think you should be.
I am passionate about working with LGBTQ+ populations and adults of all ages navigating a variety of concerns, including anxiety, OCD, depression, panic, life transitions, relationship concerns, stress, and self-esteem. I also have experience supporting individuals in high-pressure academic environments and understand the unique challenges that students, graduate students, and high-achieving professionals often face. Whether you are working through a specific challenge or simply feeling stuck, I believe therapy offers an opportunity to better understand yourself, recognize patterns that may no longer be serving you, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.
My approach is rooted in person-centered therapy, while also incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. Because every client is unique, I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. I view therapy as a collaborative process built on trust, curiosity, and respect, and I consider you to be the expert on your own life. Together, we will work to better understand your experiences, identify your strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels right for you.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) and I practice under the supervision of experienced licensed clinicians while completing the requirements for independent licensure.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time outdoors, going for walks, listening to music, exploring new coffee shops, and being with friends and family. I believe healing often happens not only in life's biggest moments, but also in the small, everyday moments that help us reconnect with ourselves and the people who matter most.
I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to answer any questions you may have and help determine whether we would be a good fit. If you are considering taking the first step toward counseling, I would be honored to connect with you.
